Business Technology 11.

 

Welcome to Business Technology 11. The course allows students to develop not only computer literacy skills, but also provides students with the knowledge and practical experience in preparation for today's workforce.

 

For access to assignments, please log in to Google Classroom.

Access to Moodle is available by signing up for an NSPES email. You will need a Provincial Student ID # to proceed.

Outcomes:

 

Unit 1 – Touch Keyboarding & Business Technology Fundamentals

1.1 – Expected to demonstrate correct touch-system technique
1.2 – Expected to set up and organize workstations safely and efficiently
1.3 – Expected to develop keyboarding speed and accuracy

5.1 – Expected to use hardware and software terminology and features
5.2 – Expected to acquire employability skills and attitudes needed for life and work experiences
5.3 – Expected to access and use information responsibly and ethically
5.4 – Expected to investigate career opportunities related to information technology
5.5 – Expected to develop and maintain a Lifework Portfolio
5.6 – Expected to manage common hardware/software processes, files, and basic workstation procedures

Unit 2 – Document Processing

2.1 – Expected to apply formatting skills to a range of workplace documents
2.2 – Expected to use the keyboard to compose/format text for a range of personal/workplace purposes
2.3 – Expected to integrate data from multiple files to create an original document

Unit 3 – Spreadsheets

3.1 – Expected to identify the purposes, characteristics, and terminology associated with the use of spreadsheet software
3.2 – Expected to manipulate data using spreadsheet software to solve problems
3.3 – Expected to use mathematical features of spreadsheet software to manage data
3.4 – Expected to produce functional, informative, and effectively formatted charts to present a range of workplace data
3.5 – Expected to create and format spreadsheets to solve a range of workplace problems

Unit 4 – Desktop Publishing

4.1 – Expected to identify the purpose, characteristics, and terminology associated with the use of desktop publishing
4.2 – Expected to demonstrate an understanding of copyright and intellectual property laws
4.3 – Expected to use desktop publishing software features to enhance publications
4.4 – Expected to design and create a variety of print and online publications for specific purposes and audiences using desktop publishing software
